At least 20 people have been killed in and around the international airport in the Afghan capital, Kabul since the Taliban took control, a Nato official told Reuters.
“The situation outside Kabul airport is bad,” the official said on condition of anonymity. Our focus is to get all foreigners out of the country as soon as possible. ‘
“We have distanced ourselves from the area outside the airport to avoid any clashes with the Taliban,” he added.
Earlier, Britain’s defense ministry said seven Afghans had been killed in a stampede outside Kabul’s airport. But no details have been given.
After the Taliban took over Afghanistan, the capital, Kabul’s Hamid Karzai Airport, is now crowded with people seeking to leave.
