On Friday morning, American Airlines and Alaska Airlines aircraft collided at Hollywood Burbank Airport. At Hollywood Burbank Airport, a departure runway was blocked when an aircraft being towed hit the wing of a parked plane. According to airport authorities, an American Airlines flight was being towed to Terminal A from Terminal B.
American Airlines collided its wing with a parked Alaska Airlines aircraft during that procedure.
The American Airlines aircraft was not carrying passengers, but its crew was already on board. There were no reported injuries.
Both aircraft have been grounded, and Runway 15, which serves as a departure runway, has been closed. Officials at the airport said they are awaiting permission from the FAA to restart operations.
And, despite the closure of Runway 15, airport authorities report that most departures are occurring on Runway 8.
