CAAN orders Saurya to operate chartered flights only

Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has allowed Saurya airlines to operate chartered flights only currently.

Saurya airline which is presently operating only 1 aircraft has been allowed to operate chartered flights in its destinations, stated CAAN. CAAN has only permitted to operate chartered flight as the airline is only operating 1 aircraft.

The airline currently has only 2 aircraft and will be permitted to operate scheduled flights after another aircraft of the airline comes into operation.

The airline operates 50 seated 2 CRJ-200 aircraft with call sign ‘9N-ALE’ and ‘9N-AME’ and is the pioneer of operating jet engine aircraft for the domestic carrier. One of the aircraft needs complete repair and maintenance thus the airline is operating flight with only 1 aircraft currently.

Previously, the airline was halted from flight operation from TIA after the company got into financial crisis and could not pay dues to the airport.

The airline was sold to Non-residential Nepali group with partial ownership after the airlines flight was halted and yet the airline couldn’t revive. Recently, the airline was sold to Kuber Group an Indian Company under full ownership.

The Indian company bought the airline with 100% ownership over the airline at 630 million rupees and the airlines resumed the flights from beginning of this month. The airline has also been clearing dues gradually and planning to add new aircraft.

The company is also set to add one CRJ-200 by 15th April whereas 3 more ATR series aircraft within 6 months.

The aircraft remained grounded after TIA halted its flight from 27th November 2018. The airline company was in financial crisis until the Indian company Kuber group purchased it with an estimated amount of NRs. 63 crores.

Saurya Airlines with its two CRJ-200 aircraft conducts flight to Biratnagar, Bhairahawa, Bhadrapur, Nepalgunj, and Dhangadhi.

The airline had been operating 2 Bombardier CRJ-200 series aircraft to Bhairahawa, Biratnagar, Nepalgunj, Bhadrapur and Dhangadi sector before being grounded.

The airline had been operating with only 1 aircraft in its final days before halting the flight as one of the aircraft was grounded for a long time which also caused the financial problem to the airline.
