Effective flight schedule management required for reducing air traffic

Air Traffic has increased in the country as airlines compete to make flights during day only. Domestic airlines tend to make flights in day time even in those airports that doesn’t need to held flights within fixed time and this has eventually increased the traffic at the only international airport of the country TIA.

Airports in Himalaya and mountainous regions have to conduct flights within specified time due to unpredictable weather conditions but Airlines Company compete to conduct day flights in airports other than those airports which can conduct flights even in night time.  Airlines make flight tables before 6 o’clock even in airports like Nepalgunj, Bhairahawa, Dhangadhi and Biratnagar and Simara which can operate in night too.

CAAN officials said that the traffic has increased due to competition among airlines to make flights in day time that has caused problems for air traffic and passengers too.

Air traffic officials accused that the problem has increased after increment in flight scheduled beyond management capacity.

It is now common for passengers to wait for 2 hours for their flight. An official insist in shifting around 25% of current domestic day flights to evening from 5-7 which can help in managing air traffic and other officials of the airport and even Tourism minister is positive towards this point. Minister Rabindra Adhikari have directed authorities to manipulate the table immediately so as to provide easy service to passengers.

Sanjiv Gautam, Director General of Civil Aviation Authority said discussion to organize the domestic flights have been forwarded and have planned to expand schedule up to 8 in evening and airlines are being convinced for it.
