Jumla Airport conducting regular flights despite sharp decline in temperature

Jumla Airport (IATA: JUM, ICAO: VNJL) is an airport serving Jumla District, one of the remote areas of Nepal in Province No. 6. The airport has been conducting regular flights despite the sharp decline in temperature as the region has witnessed the drop of minus 6 degree.

The capital of the Jumla District has not experienced snowfall so, there is no any disruption in normal flight operations, reported ATC officer Mr. Pawan Agrahari.

The weather at Jumla is also favorable at the moment for the smooth flight operation, added Agrahari. The number of people descending down due to decreasing temperature is also escalating air travel at the region.

Previously, the flights operating from Nepalgunj to the Jumla Airport were disrupted due to the adverse weather conditions at Terai Region as thick fogs decreased the required visibility for aircraft to operate safely.

At present, Tara Air conducts one weekly flight to Jumla Airport from Nepalgunj every Wednesday and Nepal Airlines Corporation also operates a weekly flight on Monday from Nepalgunj. Besides, Sita Air and Summit Air operate charter flights occasionally.

Tara Air also conducts charter flights to and fro the Jumla Airport in collaboration with Karnali Tours and Travels.

The closest airports to Jumla are Juphal Airport at Dolpa, Bajura Airport at Bajura and Rukumkot Chaurjahari Airport at Rukumkot.
