Minister directs to enhance security protocol at Lukla Airport

The electronic equipment will be installed for security check at Tenzing Hillary Airport which remains busy domestic airports.

Team along with Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Rabindra Adhikari directed to install the electronic device for the security in airport after inspecting the security infrastructure.

Minister directed to use the mandatory machine in the security checkpoint after examining the airport and asked authorities to arrange the necessary electricity for operating equipment.

Currently, Nepal police conduct security check with passengers without any machines at Lukla airport. According to the Inspector Dev Narayan Mahato, the police officer assigned to protect the airports, suggested that immediate measures should be taken to bring the use of equipment for implementation of the equipment for security check-up.

According to the Trekking Guide, Chudamani KC, tourists get their flight delayed due to absence of equipment for security check-in and they also feel confused.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Lukla, almost 200 flights are operating daily. There is insufficient helipad at the airport. Minister Adhikari instructed to construct helipad immediately and to complete the helipad construction work within Jestha 15.

As per the information, 10 ropani land has been already acquired for the construction of helipad however, the construction work has not initiated yet.
