The sole international airport of Nepal Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) is set to be shut down for 10 hours daily from April 1, 2019 (Chaitra 18) for accommodating the runway extension project.

The airport will remain closed from 10 pm to 8 am in the morning halting all the flight operations and most of the flight schedule is expected to be rescheduled and changed to cope with the changing time along with NAC.

The runway of TIA constructed in 1975, is going to be upgraded for the first time. Since the runway is going to be renovated, the airline companies are fully coordinating to compensate for the time due to the airport to be closed for 10 hours daily.
