Nepalgunj Airport has been certified as one of the secured airports of Nepal. The airport received the certificate after being analyzed as secured airport yesterday.
The airport chief Prem Nath Thakur said that the certification came with the huge effort from all the departments of the airport and its staffs.
Director General of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) Sanjeev Gautam handed over the certificate to the airport on Tuesday. Nepalgunj Airport becomes the third airport after Tribhuvan International Airport and Biratnagar airport to receive the certificate.
There were terms and conditions of 6 months, 1 year and 5 years for proving the security of airport which Nepalgunj Airport fulfilled.
Thakur said that Nepalgunj Airport had fulfilled almost all regulations for being the secured airport of the country. Now the airport received certification and will improve more in the future, he added.
The masterplan for converting Nepalgunj Airport into an international level has already developed with the aim of completion of the project by 2040 BS.
