TIA closed until next notice following Yeti Airlines’ ATR 72 incident

A Yeti Airlines plane skidded off the runway at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.

An ATR 72-500 flight number NYT 422 aircraft landed with its landing gear collapsed from Runway 02 and skidded off the right side towards Fire Department at 11:15 AM.

The ATR 72 ‘9N-AMM’ aircraft had taken off from Nepalgunj Airport to Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, but due to bad weather and wet runway because of continuous downpour, the landing gears skidded and went off the runway.

All the person on board have been disembarked safely and two among them have been taken to Kathmandu Medical College and Hospital at Sinamangal for sustaining injuries.

The aircraft sustained minor damage and scratches in the incident. The airlines said it was working with the civil aviation authority and TIA airport officials to remove the aircraft from the site.

All Flights to Tribhuvan International Airport have been halted due to the incident.

The airline was purchased in lease financed by Yeti Airlines from Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC) since September 2017 by Yeti Airlines.
